The Barcelona Process, as I understand it, is aimed at fostering deeper understanding and partnership between the peoples of the Euro-Mediterranean region, with a view to furthering shared global ideals of human development and peace.
These aims resonate with UNRWA's mission to assist and protect Palestine refugees. They also reflect our impressions of the City of Barcelona as a generous supporter of aspirations for human security and justice, of which the Palestinian example is paramont. I believe that the City of Barcelona will do the Mediterranean proud as headquarters of the Barcelona Process.
